Ryazan traveler Viktor Atlasov, who is making an autonomous expedition to the Laptev Sea, crossed the Arctic Circle.
The land walker continues the expedition within the framework of the “Polar Russia” project.
In the Ryazan Museum, travelers were told that Viktor Atlasov had passed through the village of Zhigansk (from the name of a tribe of Evenks — Izhigans) and, thus, crossed the Arctic Circle. On the phone, the traveler conveyed that the expedition was passing without any problems, except for the recent storm that forced the traveler to interrupt the journey for several days.
At present, the Atlasov path lies in the Olenek channel, one of the three leading to the Laptev Sea.
“As before, fishermen and hunters, whose boats pass through Lena, provide me with great support,” Atlasov said. – Everyone is trying to feed the wanderer, share their food supplies, advise how best to reach the coast of the Arctic Ocean.
So, according to Atlasov, one of the most acceptable ways is to cross the Chersky Ridge and descend to the Olenek River, from where to go to the village of Ust-Olenek, where the burial place of Tatiana and Vasily Pronchishchev is, is one of the destinations of the Atlas expedition.
Recall, starting in 2015, Viktor Atlasov travels in the framework of the Polar Russia project, the main goal of which is to overcome the route from the Russian borders with Norway to the northeast coast of Chukotka in several stages.
