The route passes through eight regions of Russia. The expedition members on the Northern Route-2019 snowmobile reached across the Lena ice to the village of Tiksi, the northernmost settlement of Yakutia. About this TASS reported the project coordinator Igor Smolin.

The route of the expedition, launched on January 11 from Murmansk, passes through eight regions of Russia, its approximate length is 17 thousand km. “In one day’s crossing they went from Uriing-Khaya to the polar station Ust-Olenek, then went to Tiksi along the Lena for two days. to take care of the equipment. On the bank of the Lena, they spent the night in a fishing hut. The next day, they switched to another branch of the river, and there turned out to be a good snow cover, comfortable for movement, “said Smolin.

According to him, on Thursday, having rested in Tiksi and servicing snowmobiles, travelers plan to move on to the Chokurdah. “The distance along the route to Chokurdah is about 1 thousand km. If everything is all right, it’s four days running,” said Smolin.

Three travelers from Magnitogorsk – expedition leader Alexander Tabakov, navigator Gennady Chernukha and mechanic Yevgeny Berdnikov – intend to go on asnowmobile through the entire coast of the Russian Arctic from the Murmansk region to Kamchatka in three months. All participants are experienced travelers who have previously participated in long crossings.
