Navigation season in the Irkutsk region in 2014 is scheduled to start earlier than usual, said Wednesday’s press service of the regional government in reference to the first deputy chairman of the regional government of Nicholas Slobodchikova Wednesday.

“Navigation of last year due to the low water was hard. Due to the prevailing weather conditions (abnormally warm spring – IF) this year have the opportunity to start the navigation season for 10 days earlier than usual. We want to use this opportunity to start early in northern territories, primarily coal”, – said N.Slobodchikov meeting in the city of Ust-Kut on the Lena River, where the Osetrovsky river port, the report said.

As reported in the 2013 navigation on the Lena began May 11 and August 14 was introduced emergency mode due to falling below the navigation water level in the river, which is the main traffic artery in the north of the region.
